MD Crackower is a writer, scholar, and book reviewer working at the intersection of literary criticism and book culture. Her essays and reviews have appeared in independent literary journals and university press publications.

Her current scholarly work is focused on archival studies and the history of literary form. She holds a graduate certificate in Archival Studies from Louisiana State University and is at work on a first book of essays.

“What I am after is the long sentence — the one a reader has to slow down for, and is the better for slowing.”

She writes a weekly newsletter on reading and writing, sent quietly to a small readership of patient readers. She also publishes occasional book reviews in literary studies and gives talks on the discipline of close reading.
